All month
January, the birth month of Louis Braille, is National Braille Literacy Month. The Louis Braille School is celebrating by placing an exhibit in the main lobby of the Edmonds Public Library.

Imagine Children’s Museum
January 12, 11:00- 2:00 pm
Louis Braille School staff members Carolyn, Christina, and Janie will present a hands-on program about blindness. Museum visitors will have opportunity to write their names in braille, look at braille books and tactile pictures, fingerpaint on braille paper, meet a guide dog named Tammy, and enjoy a true story about a guide dog read in braille by Janie, the dog’s handler.

Greater Everett Area Council of the Blind

Louis Braille School representatives will speak at the February meeting of the Greater Everett Area Council of the Blind, an affiliate chapter of the Washington Council of the Blind (WCB). The Greater Everett Area Council of the Blind meets the 2nd Saturday of every month at an Everett restaurant. For information, call John Common at 425-335-4043
Woodland Park Zoo Wild Wise Program
February 20, 11:00 am-noon
The Zoo will come to the School to present a nature program with a winter theme for Louis Braille School students.
Evergreen Radio Reading Service
February 20, 6:30- 7:30 pm
Carolyn and Janie will be radio guests for a live interview and call-in program on this closed-circuit radio station located at the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library in Seattle.

Edmonds Bookshop Display
March 15 through April 12
The Louis Braille School will have a display in the Edmonds Book Shop window about the April 5 lecture and book signing event, “Louis Braille: A Touch of Genius.”

Louis Braille School Benefit Auction
May 17, 1:00-4:00 pm
Enjoy live and silent auctions, hands-on informational tables about blindness, guide dog puppies in training, and a good time for all while raising funds for the school. Spring Auction updates and a preview of items offered for bid will be available on the Louis Braille School web site.
