2008 Auction Donations Online

Where can you walk into one room and buy a ride on a fire engine, earrings made of silk and crystal, a travel book autographed by Rick Steves, an antique wooden storage chest, and tickets to the Seattle Symphony or a Cougars’ football game?

The answer is the Louis Braille School’s Second Annual Benefit Auction on May 17, 2008, taking place at the Edmonds Conference Center from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. And it’s much more than just an auction.

You’ll love meeting the adorable puppies in training to be guide dogs. There’s nothing like being around happy, affectionate dogs who have a future of noble work ahead of them. If the thought of them makes you smile, wait until you pet them.

Last year’s auction attendees enjoyed the educational experience of wearing special goggles that simulate vision disorders. Some of them were deeply impressed. One man, himself visually impaired, emotionally told us his wife had a breakthrough understanding of his vision after she wore the goggles. We’re making the experience available at this year’s auction. So come and see the world differently.

Maybe you’ve had the chance to feel words by running your fingers over braille writing in elevators or on public plaques. At the auction you’ll be able to feel your own name in braille and take it with you.

We’ll have liquid refreshments and tasty finger foods for you, too. Find a bargain for yourself while supporting the education of blind children in the Puget Sound area. The Edmonds Conference Center is just a few blocks from the beach and ferry terminal. Stroll along the waterfront after the auction and enjoy the day in beautiful Edmonds.

Please email us if you would like to be notified when new items have been posted on the site.

It is not too late to donate items for the auction. Donations are welcome any time, though we need them in advance if they are to be in our auction program.

All proceeds will benefit the children at the Louis Braille School.
