These cuddly creatures evoke a sense of warmth, love and friendship. She has always loved aboriginal art. She first encountered Native symbols in her hometown because of the Lummi Indian Tribe in her county. These symbols found their way into her early contemporary work. Jody Bergsma has a warehouse mini showroom in Bellingham, Washington.

It tells the story of the arrival of a new priest to King Island, Alaska, just in time for Christmas. Both the author and illustrator live in Alaska. An oratorio based on King Island Christmas won the Fredrick Loewe Award in 1997 and was awarded the Dramatist’s Guild Prize in 1998.
