Looking for a unique, one-of-a-kind sculpture? From the artistry of Jim Ballard of Edmonds, comes this gracefully carved vase.
The vase is made from a basalt stone that was pushed here from glacial movement about ten thousand years ago. Smooth carving caresses a natural, rougher surface, giving a sense of touching our local natural history. The white marks in the photograph are naturally occurring barnacles. The vase can be used indoors or outdoors. It is especially suited for creating Ikebana, the Japanese form of flower arrangements. Truly stunning with an arrangement of flowers, branches or plants.

This lovingly made coverlet is truly a treasure. The coverlet was hand made by Mary Hartley, mother of the donor. At the age of 15, Mary started working in her mother’s Edmonton, Canada hat shop. She became a professional seamstress and was a wizard at detail work. The yo-yo pattern used in this coverlet was poplular during the 1920s-1940s. Mary made this heirloom-quality coverlet two years ago. It is in mint condition and truly a keepsake to pass down in the family.
